RegularDad decided on the spur of the moment to take the girls out to the bookstore and then to lunch. I’m sitting here in this unexpected quiet, not exactly sure what to do with myself. Should I:
a) clean something
b) read
c) surf the Internet for new curriculum and any new message board wars that may or may not have sprung up
d) exercise
e) pluck my eyebrows
f) eat all the kinds of junk food I don’t usually eat during the day so that the kids don’t pick up any of my bad habits
What would you do?

I’d go back to bed. Of course my thinking is colored by the headache that sent me to bed early last night.
My thinking is also affected by: Cletus and his Car Alarm at 3 a.m. (sounds like a book title) The Train Going By in the Middle of the Night, The Big Noisy Garbage Truck of Early Friday, and the Sirens of the Large Freeway Chase followed by the Horrendous Aerial Battle of the News Copters.
Maybe I’m just a little tired.
I’m in the same boat ~ and here I am surfing, that’s how I stumbled on your post… but now I’m thinking a bar of chocolate with a cup of tea and a good book sounds so much better. Wanna join me?
I often in up in that dilemma. Whenever I get a few minutes of quiet, I’m often frozen like a deer in headlights with idea racing through my mind. Taking a nice long shower or bath is often high on my list. I also often find myself randomly surfing the web, not actually accomplishing what ever computer task I set out to do. I love the idea of chocolate and a cup of tea (actually I think I’ll have ice coffee, I could use a stronger caffeine burst).
I always spring for the bath. You know, with water that’s still hot and not cluttered with toys dropped in by passersby. Nobody waltzing in to stare and pick their noses while begging to get in with me. Nobody knocking on the door every five or ten seconds to ask where the crayons are, or tattle on each other, or ask when I’ll be done. Nobody suddenly remembering as soon as I start washing my hair that they needed to poop.
*Ahhh* A kidless bath. Nothing better.
I ended up reading.
It was short-lived, but nice for a change.
Heather, I soooo relate to what happens as soon as you’re in the shower or tub. It’s amazing isn’t it?
Yep, reading. That’s what I would do too. And then I’d take an unscheduled nap (with a scheduled nap later)
