Final award notices, and a tearful farewell to National Frog Month (or whatever it is).

Well, we’ve reached the first of May, and heartbreaking as it is to all of us, we must now draw to a close our illustrious blog award program: the coveted, the one and only, Thinking About Giant Frog Heads Award:

But we do have two more winners to showcase for you, and I must say it’s been Incredibly Difficult to wait until today to post their efforts, but in keeping with my own stupid rules, typed up in an insomniac’s fog, I’ve held back until this very moment, so with no further ado, may I present to you our final two winners for 2007:

First, Ami over at Ami’s World, for her glorious post My Frog Blog (post) , is a clear winner. She posted some incredible pictures of frogs — real ones — and also admitted that these froggies were close personal friends of hers, indicating that she quite possibly has been thinking about GIANT FROG HEADS a lot longer than any of us here.

Ami, we salute you for your dedication to improving human-amphibian relations worldwide and hope that you’ll keep us posted on your future endeavors. We’d also like to point out that Ami gets even stranger Google search hits than we do here, and we’re looking forward to hearing a lot more about those incredible Google-snafu’s this summer and beyond.

And last but certainly not least, a very special award goes out to Katherine over at Our Report Card for her subtle (and completely untitled) but much needed post. Katherine and I began our Bad-Ass-Blogging-Adventures together only a few months ago, and I read her blog every day. In fact, I recommend that everyone read her blog every day because you just never know what fabulous things will pop up there.

Just this afternoon, for example, I found myself in an unexpected day-after-the-birthday-party insomniac funk and went to Katherine’s blog and found her wonderful words of wisdom regarding GIANT FROG HEADS, and the very minute I read them, the frog fog lifted. My regular cheerful mental state was restored the moment I began thinking about GIANT FROG HEADS. So, thank you Katherine, from the bottom of my empty supersized coffee mug. You thought you were just posting about GIANT FROG HEADS when really you saved me from the depths of exhausted despair — and not for the first time, might I add.

As for the rest of you who are now stuck hopelessly at your very own personal bottomless pit of despair because you didn’t win this year, take heart! We can make it an annual event, if you like. Tune in next April and we’ll celebrate National Frog Month or National Amphibian Awareness Month (or whatever the hell it is) once again by dusting off a whole new batch of Froggy Awards. Because like Arlo Guthrie once said: “I’m not proud….Or tired.”

Congratulations once again to all our winners! (And seriously, you guys….Thanks for playing. That was fun.)

    Special update for our winners:

I am having email problems, and can’t send out messages right now. As soon as it’s cleared up, I’ll send you your award logos. Sorry about that!
